What a cookie is
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep. Your browser sends it back with each page you load from that site, which is how the site knows, for example, that you are signed in.

- Stops another website from sending our forms in your name, and keeps you signed in if you have an account with us. It is encrypted, so only our server can read it.

- Remembers that you have read the cookie notice, so it is not shown again.

- What it is for
- Links your phone to your request for a code when you scan the QR code on a SentinelGate terminal, so the page can show you the code when it is sent. The age-check page explains what it keeps about you.
- How long it lasts
- Up to 24.5 hours, until any code it leads to has stopped working.

- Only the age-check page, and only once you ask for a code.
Why we do not ask for your consent
Irish and EU law asks websites for your consent before they set a cookie, unless the cookie is strictly necessary for a service you have asked for. Each of ours is, so we tell you about them instead. If we ever want to set one that is not, such as for analytics, we will ask you first, make saying no as easy as saying yes, and update this page.
Other things we keep
We do not use your browser's local storage, or anything like it, to recognise you. Like every website, our servers note your internet (IP) address with each page you load. We use those logs only to keep the site secure and working.
Controlling cookies
Your browser lets you see, delete and block cookies, for every site or for one. If you block
ours, signing in and sending forms will stop working. If you delete
cookie_notice
the notice will come back.
